Abstract

Growing concern about antibiotic resistance in poultry production has prompted the search for alternatives to improve the health and productivity of broiler chickens. The study aims to evaluate the impact of acetylsalicylic acid (ASA) use in poultry production. To this end, a systematic literature review was conducted using the PRISMA methodological approach. High-impact scientific databases such as Scopus, Taylor and Francis, PubMed, and Science Direct were used to compile the research background. Studies were selected based on inclusion and exclusion criteria, and the results were organized descriptively in a summary outline. The results show that minimal and moderate doses of ASA positively influence production parameters such as weight and feed conversion, while improving the overall health, immune response, and stress resistance of the birds. In contrast, high doses were associated with adverse effects, including liver and kidney disorders and compromised immune response. In general, ASA is a suitable alternative for optimizing poultry production, provided that the appropriate dosage ranges are respected.
