Abstract

The present study analyzed the consumption of alcoholic and energy drinks and their relationship with the lipid profile in young adults aged 18 to 35 years. This research used a quantitative approach with a non-experimental, descriptive, and cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 30 participants of both sexes, who were administered a questionnaire to identify patterns of alcoholic and energy drink consumption, as well as their willingness to undergo the evaluation of certain analytes related to the lipid profile. The study aimed to analyze the consumption patterns of these beverages and their importance as potential factors associated with cardiovascular risk in young adults. The results showed that 73.3% of the participants consumed alcoholic beverages, while 63.3% reported consuming energy drinks. Likewise, a considerable frequency of consumption of both types of beverages was observed among the study population. These findings allow for the identification of consumption practices that could constitute factors of interest for monitoring metabolic and cardiovascular alterations during adulthood. The available literature indicates that alcohol consumption may be associated with changes in lipoprotein concentrations, while energy drinks have been linked to various metabolic and cardiovascular disorders.
