RAPID SEQUENCE INTUBATION IN CHEST TRAUMA: A CASE OF REPORT

Abstract
Airway management is one of the most crucial priorities in critically ill patients, since airway obstruction is one of the main causes of mortality. This case offers a detailed and practical look at procedures and decisions involved in the management of penetrating cardiac trauma, highlighting the importance of rapid sequence intubation (RSI). Chest trauma, especially in the young male population, has a high incidence and mortality rate. Proper management of this type of trauma can make the difference between stabilizing the patient and preventing death before surgical correction. Therefore, it is essential to know the theoretical and practical aspects of the rapid intubation sequence. This technique not only ensures the airway in critically ill patients, but also reduces the risk of bronchoaspiration and allows achieving an adequate anesthetic plane with hemodynamic stability. These conditions are essential to facilitate the performance of the surgical act.
