Abstract
Objective: to analyze the relationship between soft skills and clinical self-efficacy in nursing students during hospital practice. Method: quantitative, non-experimental, correlational, and cross-sectional study conducted with 150 nursing students from a public university in Ecuador between September 2025 and February 2026. Data were collected using the General Self-Efficacy Scale and the Soft Skills for Nurses questionnaire through online forms. Reliability was assessed using Cronbach’s alpha, and statistical analysis was performed using SPSS version 26. Results: the instruments showed high internal consistency (α=0.841 and α=0.900). Significant positive correlations were found between perceived self-efficacy and perseverance (r=0.626), as well as problem-solving confidence (r=0.721). Soft skills such as emotional intelligence, interpersonal communication, and leadership were associated with clinical performance. Conclusion: there is a significant relationship between soft skills and clinical self-efficacy in nursing students, highlighting the importance of strengthening these competencies during academic training to improve confidence, decision-making, and quality of care in clinical settings.
