Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) remains a critical public health issue conditioned by biological, social, and environmental determinants. The objective was to analyze the determinants associated with TB transmission and nursing strategies for its prevention and control. A descriptive qualitative systematic review was conducted following PRISMA guidelines, searching PubMed, ScienceDirect, SciELO, and Google Scholar from 2021 to 2026 using DeCS/MeSH terms and Boolean operators. Results show that poverty, overcrowding, access barriers, poor ventilation, HIV coinfection, and malnutrition enhance transmission. The most effective nursing strategies combine health education, active case finding, Directly Observed Therapy (DOT), psychosocial support, and environmental biosafety controls. It is concluded that TB control requires nursing to articulate clinical actions with comprehensive approaches to structural health determinants.
