Abstract

Introduction: Post-COVID-19 syndrome comprises manifestations that persist after acute SARS-CoV-2 infection and may affect different dimensions of health. Identifying these symptoms in the community setting makes it possible to recognize follow-up and care needs. Objective: To describe the persistent symptoms of post-COVID-19 syndrome among residents of the Ambatillo parish in Ambato. Methodology: A quantitative, descriptive, non-experimental, cross-sectional study was conducted. The final sample consisted of 34 residents of Ambatillo, selected through non-probability purposive sampling. The Post-COVID Questionnaire, consisting of 15 questions with four response options—Never, Sometimes, Often, and Very frequently—was administered. Data were tabulated using Microsoft Excel. Informed consent was obtained, and confidentiality of the information was ensured. Results: In general, symptoms reported “occasionally” were most common, particularly weakness, fatigue, shortness of breath, difficulty concentrating, headache, and sleep disturbances. Hair loss was the least common symptom. Conclusions: The study identified persistent physical, respiratory, cognitive, and emotional symptoms in 34 residents of Ambatillo. The results highlight the importance of community-based follow-up, although they cannot be generalized to the entire population.
